proto-pasta-new-metal-filaments

Proto-pasta, a 3D printer filament manufacturer, has announced that they are going to be making available two new interesting PLA-based filament types to the 3D printing community. Currently the company is making Carbon Reinforced PLA, High Temperature PLA as well as Polycarbonate ABS Alloy filaments offering some really unique and interesting possibilities for 3D printing. The two new exotic filaments that will soon be available will add even more fun to the mix and for people that want to experiment printing with non-standard filaments – Stainless Steel PLA and Magnetic Iron PLA. The new filaments are engineered for printability on home 3D printers, new materials that print as easily as PLA, but feel and look like metal.

The new Proto-pasta Stainless Steel PLA can be polished or brushed for a brilliant metallic shine, or left unfinished for a cast metal appearance. The new Proto-pasta Magnetic Iron PLA will attract magnets. 3D prints with the new metal materials can also be oxidized for a unique, rusty patina finish. This opens up a new range of practical uses and fun possibilities for 3D printed objects. Both new materials will be available for pre-order on our Proto-pasta this Black Friday, November 28th, and will be released in early 2015.
